Initiated in 2006 and officially open to the public in May, 2008, the printmaking base covers a planned area of 1.4 million square meters and a core area of 316,000 square meters. Restored from ancient Hakka dwellings of more than 300 hundred years of history, the printmaking base is a comprehensive project integrating print creation, printmaking, exhibition, collection, communication, academic research and industrial development which combines both printmaking undertaking and industry. Guanlan Original Printmaking Base is the first choice for artists where they can concentrate on their creation.
The museum covers an area of 17,600 square meters and the overall floorage is 18,600 square meters. The permanent academic projects in the museum include Guanlan International Print Biennial, Chinese Printmaking Exhibition and Guanlan Forum. China Printmaking Museum is an indispensable part of the holistic planning of Guanlan Original Printmaking Base and the first special museum for printmaking.
Since the first session in 2007, Guanlan International Print Biennial has been the largest international print exhibition in China, establishing a printmaking academic platform for global artists to exchange creative ideas and compete.
